We seek to elevate life by bridging and connecting human needs

Co-founded by five individuals from diverse creative backgrounds, STUDIO TALK is based in Jakarta and Bali, united by a shared vision: to elevate the quality of life by bridging human needs through architecture, interior, and furniture design.

We believe that the most successful projects are born from open dialogue and the exchange of ideas between clients and designers. This collaborative approach allows us to find the most effective solutions while navigating the unique challenges presented by each project.

Our commitment is to create spaces that are not only sensitive, imaginative, and contextual but also highly functional. Our designs prioritize a user-focused approach, where practicality meets creativity. We embrace the opportunity to challenge conventions, exploring innovative material use and reimagining traditional typologies with fresh perspectives.

Materiality and the creation of warm, inviting spaces lie at the core of our design philosophy. We believe these elements are essential to enhancing the experiential quality of any space. In every project, our goal is to work closely with our clients, unlocking and maximizing the potential within the given constraints to create inspiring and memorable built environments.

Adi earned his Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture from the University of Melbourne in 2008 and 2011, respectively. His academic journey also took him to UC Berkeley as an exchange student and to Universität Stuttgart in Germany, where he participated in a winter school focused on passive housing systems.

Before co-founding STUDIO TALK, Adi gained diverse experience working in both Melbourne and Jakarta. In Melbourne, he focused on residential and multi-residential architecture. Upon returning to Jakarta in 2014, he joined a multinational firm, where he led a team on a range of projects from private residences to large-scale master planning.

Although formally trained as an architect, Adi has a deep passion for the intersection of architecture and interior design. He is particularly drawn to the sensory and subtle aspects of interior spaces, which has shaped his approach to crafting both thoughtfully designed environments and bespoke furniture pieces.

Adi has also contributed his expertise as a guest lecturer at the University of Indonesia and as a guest critic at Universitas Pelita Harapan’s interior design faculty.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Adi is an avid traveler with a keen interest in discovering new places, cuisines, and cultures, all of which inspire and enrich his creativity. He also enjoys the outdoors and aspires to design a resort set in a breathtaking natural locale, such as the foothills of a mountain or a serene, remote coral atoll.

Principal (Architect)

Anissa received her Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture from Trisakti University in Jakarta, Indonesia. She began her career as an architectural designer in Singapore in 2010. In 2014, she returned to Jakarta to join a multinational firm, where she led the design team for regional projects, including private residences and mid- to high-rise buildings. In 2016, Anissa co-founded Studio Talk with four partners and has been actively involved in its development and operations since. She is a licensed architect (Arsitek Madya) and an active committee member of Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI) Jakarta. Anissa sees architecture as central to her life, enabling her to contribute to people's well-being from small-scale environments to broader societal contexts.

In addition to her architectural practice, Anissa has been teaching at the Architecture Department of Trisakti University in Jakarta since 2021, where she serves as a practicing lecturer in architectural design studios. She also frequently guest lectures and speaks at various universities and architectural events in Jakarta and the surrounding areas. Teaching and sharing knowledge is deeply rewarding for Anissa, as it allows her to instruct others while continuing to learn and grow herself. Through her teaching, she has refined her ability to understand people's psychology, interests, and inclinations, which is invaluable for selecting the best team members for Studio Talk and managing various stakeholders, including clients and contractors.

Beyond her architectural work, Anissa is one of the co-initiators of the Ibu Arsitek community, an initiative she has been actively involved in since 2018. Ibu Arsitek supports female architects in Indonesia who are passionate about their careers. Anissa and her colleagues engage in activities such as teaching spatial design to young children, organizing architectural exhibitions, hosting discussions to support architectural practice in Indonesia, and fostering collaboration among female architects to address spatial justice and create inclusive living spaces. As a working mother of two, Anissa is dedicated to developing design solutions—whether for furniture or larger projects—that contribute positively to child-friendly environments. She views this as a pressing issue in a developing country like Indonesia and hopes that through Studio Talk and Ibu Arsitek, she can effectively address this concern.

Anissa loves traveling, teaching, sports, and playing music. Traveling fuels her creativity, while teaching allows her to help future architects grow. Staying active with sports alongside her husband and friends, and relaxing with music and watching concerts, are key parts of her routine. As a mom, wife, and daughter, family life is incredibly important to her. She enjoys balancing her passions with spending quality time at home. These interests make her life fulfilling and keep her inspired both at work and with her family.

Principal (Interior Design)

Levina is an Interior Designer with a comprehensive educational background and diverse professional experience. She received her dual degrees—a Bachelor of Art and a Bachelor of Design—from the University of Pelita Harapan in Indonesia and Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia, in 2013. Before founding STUDIO TALK, she gained significant experience working on various interior design projects, with a particular focus on retail and F&B concepts.

In 2019, Levina pursued a Master’s degree in Advanced Design Management at Elisava in Barcelona while working remotely and residing in Europe until 2023. Her time in Europe profoundly influenced her design style, blending tradition and modernity, and drawing inspiration from the cultures and especially Mediterranean architecture of Portugal, Spain, and Italy. This influence is evident in her choice of materials, colors, and shapes, which reflect a deep appreciation for the region's aesthetic heritage.

Since 2014, Levina has been involved in over 100 projects across Jakarta, Bali, and other cities in Indonesia. She currently works primarily from Bali, managing local projects and continuing to infuse her designs with a balance of thoughtful refinements and playful, out-of-the-box ideas.

A firm believer in the power of branding, Levina emphasizes the integration of space and branding in her design philosophy, aiming to create environments that are both innovative and beneficial to their users. Beyond interior design, she has an affinity for the sense of smell, understanding its unique connection to memory and the brain. This led her to found her brand, Normal Estate, which adds a distinctive layer to her approach to space, by considering how scent can influence the overall experience.

Levina's dream is to collaborate with Indonesian cities in designing more communal spaces that can be enjoyed publicly. With her curiosity for life and passion for culture, she remains committed to continuous learning and innovation in her field.

Karina received her Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture from the Institute of Technology Bandung (ITB) in 2014. She began her career in Bali, working on hospitality projects, before moving to Jakarta to join a multinational firm. As a junior designer, she played a key role in diverse projects, ranging from high-end residential developments in Singapore to large-scale resort master planning in Eastern Indonesia.

In 2016, Karina joined a multidisciplinary design studio, where she led the architectural and interior design of mixed-use retail and F&B concepts in Jakarta. The following year, she co-founded STUDIO TALK and started her journey as a principal architect.

A minimalist at her core, Karina believes that simplicity enhances a space’s inherent beauty. Over time, her approach has evolved to incorporate vibrant colors, a rich mix of materials, dynamic textures, and playful patterns and shapes, all while focusing on creating environments that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also comfortable and functional. As a mother, Karina's perspective on design has become increasingly centered on creating safe and nurturing spaces, especially for women and children.
